Portraits of Hope
Why do we share stories?
Portraits of Hope is a way these stories can be heard and
we can be reminded that restoration is possible, and lives
and families can be healed.
Meet Samantha
“God does not give me anything that I cannot handle. He has been with me through it all. He has wrapped his arms around me and has guided me through these trials I have been going through. I knew he was there with me every single day.”
Meet Della
“I was so confused, very scared, and I felt all alone. I didn’t know when my mom would come to get me or if she would return at all.”
Meet Denise
“I want to share one thing with you, don’t let yourself dwell in all the negative, just think of the positive because God’s going to get every person through whatever they’re going through. Just focus on him.”
Meet Trini
“I would tell other woman who have gone through domestic violence, you are not alone. Do not give up on yourself. You are worth it and this is not your fault. I would tell her, you are beautiful. Do not listen to the lie that you are not worthy, you deserve good things in life.“
Meet Melvin
“I was at a low I never thought I would get to. I had many issues I just couldn’t get over and I turned to drugs. I knew what was right and what was wrong; I just always was doing what was wrong.”
Meet Thomas
“At this stage in my life, I was spiraling downward fast. I was depressed and I was hiding it. I was drinking and using drugs more and more. I did anything I could to numb the pain.”
Meet Crystal
“I did not belong anywhere. The world was against me and I was against the world.“
