Meet Annette
Meet Annette. She can’t thank YOU enough!
“I found the love of Jesus.”
Annette was born into a world of loneliness and neglect. “My father was a heroin addict and Mom was an alcoholic, so I raised myself,” she says. “I never felt love as a child. It was all about survival.”
When Annette was 10, she began numbing her pain with drugs. It was the beginning of a 40-year struggle with addiction that led her to marry another addict, destroyed her relationships with their children and landed her in trouble with the law. “I was lost, broken and hopeless. My husband had been murdered due to our lifestyle. My kids didn’t want to be around me. I’d burned all my bridges,” she says. “So the last time I was in jail, I decided to change my life.”
When she was released, Annette entered our Life Change Academy, where Bible studies, chapel services and Christian counseling led her to an encounter with Christ. “I never knew I could have a relationship with Jesus until I came here. I dug in and got my feet planted in Him,” she says. “Now I have a whole different mind and heart.”
“I’m a new creation in Christ.”
Annette graduated and is now on our staff, counseling women in our Life Change Academy. “I’m in awe that the Lord would use me, this broken vessel, to minister to these women. I love them so much and love seeing their lives change,” she says.
Annette’s relationships with her children have now been restored, she’s married to a wonderful man, and they have a home where her children and grandchildren visit. She’s surrounded by love. “The Mission gave me the tools for a new life.”
You may never meet Annette, but she’s eternally grateful to YOU for your support – today, her heart is filled with new hope for the future. “I found the love of Jesus, I love who I am today and I’m able to love others through their time of need. I’m a walking miracle.”
