Portraits of Hope
Why do we share stories?
Portraits of Hope is a way these stories can be heard and
we can be reminded that restoration is possible, and lives
and families can be healed.
Meet Billy
“I filled out the application, went in to interview — I cried in the interview. They said I was a basket case. And I was. To describe me emotionally, I was a cup dropped and shattered in a million pieces. The owner was in the interview, and they asked me to step out so they could talk. They weren’t going to hire me, but the owner said, ‘Something’s telling me to hire you.’”
Meet Crystal
“All my life I’ve been addicted to drugs, in and out of prison, just being homeless on the streets. A hopeless, horrible life. I ended up at the shelter and I started the Next Step Program that’s where I got the seed of God planted.“
Meet Teresa
“My rock bottom moment was when they came to arrest me. I actually don’t remember it happening. I blacked out. It was a few months after, that they came to arrest me, in my head I was in denial about doing something like that in the first place.”

You may just see three men. We see generations. We see a father returning to his children as a new man. We see young men with a new map for a new journey, with the tools and relationship with God to navigate life's ups and downs.
We see what's possible when people are left with nothing, and then, truly find what they were missing all along.

These men and women have been made new! Celebrate God's faithfulness while you enjoy their stories.
Meet Noelle
“My head was just mixed up and messed up. I had no drug abuse, but I was abused. I was in an abusive relationship with my kids’ dad, it was very unhealthy. Coming to the Shelter of Hope was my first step to overcoming what I couldn't overcome on my own.”
Meet Desiree
“I knew I had an addiction. I knew I needed help and it was something more than I could handle myself.”
Meet Monica
“I was tired of being out on the streets stealing cars, stealing from stores. Just tired of everything, I didn’t have anywhere to go.”
Meet Danny
“And I swore this time, while I was in prison, I’m too old for this game. I gotta make a better choice.”
